ï»żIt's pretty incredible that 70's soul-funk-pop originators Earth Wind & Fire are still functioning as a band, and even more of a testament to them that they continue to tour today. As a live act, they haven't lost one jot of funk-laden, stuff-struttin' soul, and their musical energy onstage at the ripe old age they are is commendable. They are truly living legends of our time, boasting six Grammy awards and more nominations to boot, as well as being responsible for some of the most enduring disco classics in history, such as 'Boogie Wonderland', 'Shining Star', and the eponymous 'We Are Family'. The band also go down in history as the fist African-American group to sell out shows at New York's Madison Square Garden, and in 2008 Barack Obama invited them to perform at the White House for the first social event of his new administration. I was lucky enough to catch Earth Wind & Fire at the UK festival Bestival in 2011, and the show was a delicious slice of pop-disco soul in the sunshine, and with all and there were a lot of them! their major hits covered. There wasn't a soul in the crowd who wasn't pulling their best Saturday Night Fever moves throughout- an excellent effort by all, EWF! Plus d'info Signaler un contenu inappropriĂ©
